What a cookie is, and why there are none here

A cookie is a small file a site stores in your browser so it can recognise you on later visits. They are used mostly to measure audiences, keep sessions and target advertising.

This site does none of that. There are no user sessions, we do not recognise you from one visit to the next and we show no advertising, so there is nothing to remember between visits.

The only thing stored in your browser

A local storage entry called “gzibiza-cookie-consent”, which records the choice you made in the notice, so we do not ask again on every page and we know where we stand.

It is not a cookie: it is never sent to a server, it does not travel with requests and it does not identify your device. It stays in your browser and you can delete it whenever you like.

If you clear this site's data in your browser, the notice will appear again. Nothing else changes.

No third parties, no external calls

We use no Google Analytics or any other outside measurement tool, no Meta pixel, and no social buttons that load from elsewhere. We do keep a page-view count of our own, without cookies, described in the next section.

Typefaces are served from our own server rather than Google Fonts, so browsing this site makes no request to any third-party server for them.

Photographs of the premises are served from our own database, hosted on Supabase, which acts as our provider and has no other use for those images.

The page-view count

We do want to know which premises get looked at and which pages people read, so we keep a count of our own, written by us and stored in our own database. Four things are recorded for each page view: the address of the page, the language, whether the screen is a phone or a computer and, when you arrive from another website, the domain you came from, “google.com”, say, never the full address or what you searched for.

Your IP address is not stored, nor an identifier, nor anything that could single you out. There is no cookie and nothing is placed in your browser. The consequence is deliberate: we cannot tell whether two pages were seen by the same person, so this counts pages, not visitors, and it cannot follow anyone around the site.

That is why this count needs no consent from you: it does not reach into your device and it handles nothing that identifies you. It is the same reason we can still say, in plain words, that this site sets no cookies.

How to delete what is stored

In your browser's privacy or site-data settings you can clear this domain's local storage. Private browsing also keeps nothing once you close the window.

Why we ask, if there is nothing to consent to today

Because your decision is recorded and governs whatever may come. The site checks that answer before loading anything that is not strictly necessary, so the day we add an embedded map, a YouTube video or measurement that does use cookies, it will only run for those who accepted.

If you reject, or simply do not answer, none of it loads: no answer is treated as a refusal, because consent has to be prior and explicit.

You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser: the notice will appear again.
